Analysis: It's the third season of a four-year contract that now includes $1.75 million guaranteed for 2025, after Lazard barely played in 2023 but rebounded last season to score six touchdowns in 12 games (10 starts). Analysis: Lazard was granted permission to seek a trade in early March. The 29-year-old wideout put up relatively mediocre production since joining the Jets on a 4-year, $44 million contract two years ago, posting 60 catches (on 109 targets) for 861 yards and seven touchdowns across 26 appearances. It's unlikely that many teams will be interested in trading for Lazard given the size of his contract; therefore, he'll likely be forced to restructure and/or take a smaller salary whether he is traded or remains on the Jets roster. It's also possible, and perhaps more likely, that he will be released if a contract restructure does not materialize.

Analysis: Fields joined the Jets on a two-year, $40 million on March 10 after the team moved on from starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason. It was widely assumed that the 26-year-old would fill the hole at starting quarterback, so Mougey's comments don't come as much of a surprise; however, the general manager added that incumbent backup Tyrod Taylor will be "on his heels," per Costello. Mougey also said that the team is hoping for Fields to pull off a turnaround similar to a pair of other high first-round draft picks who found success with a different team than the one who drafted them, citing Sam Darnold with the Vikings last year and Baker Mayfield with the Buccaneers, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. Fields performed relatively well after being traded from the Bears to the Steelers last offseason. In 10 appearances with six starts, he completed a career-high 65.8 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception to go along with 62 carries for 289 yards and five TDs. The Jets' offensive skill players are headlined by a pair of standouts with wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, but the team lacks in offensive depth and overall infrastructure.

Analysis: Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Reynolds' agreement with the Jets is a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. The 30-year-old is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he combined for 13 catches for 194 yards and a TD over the course of nine games (five with Denver and four with Jacksonville). With New York, Reynolds will have an opportunity to compete for targets behind top option Garrett Wilson in a wideout corps that also includes Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson, Malachi Corley and Tyler Johnson. A fantasy bounce-back could be in store for Reynolds this coming season should he secure steady snaps, which for now -- based on his new team's current roster -- is a plausible outcome.

Analysis: Johnson saw modest numbers as a backup with the Rams in 2024, finishing with 26 catches (on 41 tarets) for 291 yards and one touchdown across 15 regular-season games. However, he was not active for the Rams' two playoff games, and he'll look to get more involved in the Jets' passing attack alongside Garrett Wilson.

Analysis: Per Pelissero, the deal is worth up to $2.5 million. Nwangwu logged just one offensive snap over two games with the Jets last season, but he dazzled with a 99-yard kick return for a touchdown in Week 13. Nwangwu ended the campaign on IR due to a hand injury, but he's expected to be healthy by the start of training camp.

Analysis: Smartt was the Chargers' top pass-catching TE for a few weeks last season while Will Dissly was injured, but they didn't consider him worthy of a restricted-free-agent tender for $3.26 million. While that isn't the best sign for his NFL future, nor for his odds of gaining fantasy relevance, Smartt at least did well to land with a team that has one of the weakest TE rooms in the league. Incumbent starter Tyler Conklin is an unrestricted free agent, leaving 2022 third-round pick Jeremy Ruckert atop the depth chart, backed only by young, undrafted players. The Jets figure to add more talent at the position if they don't re-sign Conklin, and Smartt's chances to earn a regular role in passing situations likely depends on whether the team gets an experienced starter / early draft pick or settles for another bargain-bin signing / late-round selection. Either way, the path to mainstream fantasy relevance is slim.

Analysis: In addition to signing Fields, the Jets have parted ways with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, the latter of whom cut into Wilson's target share significantly after being acquired in a midseason trade with Vegas last season. The mobile Fields isn't considered a particularly proficient passer, but the biggest knock on him has been his failure to get off his first read, and Wilson figures to be that top read frequently in a Jets offense that could still bolster its receiving corps via free agency or the draft but currently lacks a clear starter opposite Wilson. Case in point, D.J. Moore set career highs in both receiving yards (1,364) and receiving touchdowns (eight) with Fields at quarterback for the Bears in 2023. Wilson also has some established familiarity with Fields from their college days, as they were teammates at Ohio State in 2019 and 2020, though Wilson's most productive college season came in 2021 with C.J. Stroud under center.

Analysis: Reports suggest Rodgers is deciding between signing with the Giants and Steelers, with some chance of the Vikings getting involved. He won't necessarily sign a contract Wednesday, but the Giants apparently should become aware soon whether he'll join them or not.

Analysis: After making 10 appearances, including six starts, for the Steelers in 2024, Fields lands in New York as the replacement for the soon-to-depart Aaron Rodgers. Fields completed 106 of 161 passes (a career-high 65.8 percent) for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception, notched 62 carries for 289 yards and five TDs and fumbled six times (one lost) in Pittsburgh. With his new squad, Fields will be working with WR Garrett Wilson and RB Breece Hall.

Analysis: Schefter also mentions that the Jets are interested in signing Fields as a replacement for Rodgers, who is set to become a free agent and won't stay in New York unless it's to play for the Giants. The Steelers recently agreed to trade for WR DK Metcalf, giving them a dangerous pair of downfield targets with WR George Pickens still on the roster. It'd be a good situation for Rodgers, backed by a solid defense and throwing to talented wideouts, but the fit will also depend on Pittsburgh's level of interest and willingness to give the 41-year-old a desirable contract.

Analysis: The second season of Lazard's four-year, $44 million contract went much better than the first, but it still looks like a huge overpay, and he still hasn't found success with any QB besides Aaron Rodgers (who won't be with the Jets in 2025). A release is more likely than a trade, as Lazard presumably would need to accept a pay cut to generate any interest. He's scheduled for non-guaranteed base salaries of $11 million in both 2025 and 2026.

Analysis: Rapoport adds that the Jets are expected to release Adams if they cannot arrange a trade elsewhere, and, if he's let go, he could follow quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a new team in free agency. New York officially informed Rodgers on Feb. 13 that the team would not bring him back after his second season with the team. Adams reunited with the quarterback, who was his longtime teammate during their time in Green Bay, when the wideout was traded from the Raiders to the Jets in October. The 32-year-old posted 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns over 11 games in the Big Apple. He also tallied 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown over three games with Las Vegas in 2024, marking his fifth straight 1,000-yard season. Adams would incur a $38.2 million cap hit for the Jets next season if he's cut, and he has two years remaining on his current contract, though none of his salary is guaranteed. Teams interested in acquiring him would likely prefer to wait until he is released before attempting to sign him on a lower number in free agency, which will make finding a trade partner by March 12 rather difficult.

Analysis: Russini reports New York and Rodgers have discussed a union all week at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Rodgers' primary interest was in the Rams, per a recent report from Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, but with that option now off the table, the 41-year-old signal-caller will have to consider other possibilities. With the Giants, Rodgers would have the opportunity to pair with a young standout wide receiver in Malik Nabers, who, as a rookie working with a combination of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock. Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle, managed to put together a 109-1,204-7 receiving line across 15 games in 2024. The team additionally has the available cap space to potentially bring in Davante Adams to join Rodgers, a development both players have expressed interest in. Neither Rodgers nor Adams has yet been let go by the Jets, but their respective releases seem like a foregone conclusion.

Analysis: Rodgers hasn't yet been let go by the Jets, but he's reportedly already working to find a new team behind the scenes, as his release from the Jets is a foregone conclusion. As for the Rams, there's been a whole lot of trade chatter around Matthew Stafford, with the team and quarterback at odds over his contract. Rodgers would come much cheaper, and trading Stafford could allow the Rams to add a premium draft pick to use elsewhere on the roster. However, there would likely be a downgrade in play at this stage of their respective careers going from Stafford to Rodgers. But the cost savings and shorter-term commitment might be appealing to Los Angeles. As for Adams, he's also expected to be let go by New York in the coming weeks. With Cooper Kupp headed out the door in L.A., Adams would make sense as a running mate for Puka Nacua. Stafford is the big veteran quarterback domino the rest of the league is waiting on to fall, whether that's a trade or a new deal to stay with the Rams.

Analysis: That's more difficult than it sounds, especially after Rodgers' unsuccessful tenure in New York. The Jets have already informed him they're "moving in a different direction", and with minimal chance of trade interest it's only a matter of time until he's released. The teams most likely to consider signing the 41-year-old QB aren't the ones generally considered to be "good," and Rodgers may end up looking at a short list of suitors even if he's flexible on his stated criteria. A couple of the teams that theoretically might have interest would probably prefer to see what happens in free agency and the NFL Draft before settling for Rodgers as their Week 1 starter in 2025.

Analysis: The veteran QB remained on the sidelines for the vast majority of the season as Aaron Rodgers stayed healthy enough to start all 17 regular-season games. Taylor is under contract for next season, and assuming he remains with the Jets, will likely be competing for a backup job again behind whoever the team brings in to start, assuming they follow through with releasing Rodgers as expected.

Analysis: Rodgers' tenure in New York comes to a conclusion after two years as a starter, with his first year having been limited to a mere handful of regular-season snaps before the storied veteran suffered an Achilles tear. The Jets' decision to move on was anticipated, but making the announcement official early in the offseason could make it easier for the 41-year-old quarterback to find an alternate opportunity. Rodgers has one season remaining on the three-year contract he signed with the Jets in July 2023, which positions New York for a cap hit of $49 million in dead money if he were to be released. If he were cut with a post-June 1 designation, the team could opt to more flexibly split up his $49 million in dead money over the next two seasons. Analysis: It's been a tumultuous two seasons in New York for Rodgers -- he tore his Achilles three offensive snaps into the 2023 regular season then performed below expectations in 2024. Though the future Hall of Famer did manage to put up a respectable 3,897 passing yards with a 63 percent completion rate and 28:11 TD:INT over 17 contests during the current campaign, his performance level was inconsistent from game to game, and the Jets compiled a 5-12 record. Rodgers has one year remaining on the three-year deal he signed in July of 2023 (the contract also has four void years, which begin in 2026), and New York will take on $49 million of dead-cap money if the team elects to part ways with him, but that doesn't appear to be enough of a deterrent to prevent the Jets from going in another direction. Schultz does note that "further discussions" are likely to take place between Rodgers and the organization, and the QB has yet to make a definitive statement about whether he plans to continue his career next year, so there are clearly a lot of factors at play here. However, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that the Jets met with Rodgers last week and informed the QB that they are moving on, so the most likely scenario is that Rodgers will be back for his 21th season as a pro but will be suiting up for a different team.
